How this works, step by step
We are a referral service. We work out which solar routes are open to you, then introduce you to a licensed installer. Here is exactly what happens, including the parts most sites leave out.
1. You tell us your ZIP code
Five digits tells us which state law applies, which utility serves you, which incentives are live, and whether an installer covers your address. It takes seconds and identifies nobody.
2. You answer four short questions
Whether you own the property, roughly what your monthly electric bill is, how shaded the roof is between 9am and 3pm, and where the property is. These are the four things that determine whether solar is worth doing on your home. If the answers say it is not, we would rather find that out now than waste your afternoon.
3. You give us contact details, and consent, or you do not
The final step asks for your name, email and phone number. There is a separate, unticked checkbox giving consent for us and for Momentum Solar to call and text you. It is not pre-ticked, it is not bundled with anything else, and consent is not a condition of anything. If you would rather not be called, there is a link to email us instead and you will still get an answer.
4. We call you
A short conversation about your bill, your roof and which of the four financing routes is worth modeling for your situation. Nobody visits your home at this stage and there is nothing to sign.
5. The installer surveys the property
If you want to go further, we introduce you to Momentum Solar, who hold contractor licenses in every state we cover. They measure the roof from aerial imagery, then arrange a survey. They produce the design, the price, the contract and the warranty. We do not.
6. You decide, and nothing happens until you do
You will be given the state disclosure documents that apply where you live before anything is signed. In Connecticut that is the PURA customer disclosure form and a financial benefits summary. In Florida it is the disclosures required by Fla. Stat. s501.986. In New York the supplier must give you the Standard Customer Disclosure Statement, and if it conflicts with anything else in the agreement, it prevails. Read them. They exist because people have been misled in this industry.
What we are paid, and by whom
The installer pays us a referral fee. You pay us nothing, and the fee does not change your price. We are telling you this on the process page rather than in six point type at the bottom because you should know how the business you are dealing with makes money.
